Alyth Golf Course
A mere mile from the hotel, this hidden gem designed by James Braid lies directly in front of the hotel. An immaculately maintained moorland course with some deceptively awkward holes, at least one round here is a must.

Carnoustie Championship Course (25 miles)
The venue of the 1995 Scottish Open and the 1999 British Open. A stern test indeed, especially the high winds! This exposed links course offers the ultimate challenge for the really adventurous. More water hazards and trees than you would expect on a links course.
6936 yards - 18 hole sss74 (also in Carnoustie, play the Buddon Links & Burnside Courses) |

Downfield (16 miles)
"One of the finest inland courses anywhere" according to Peter Thomson. This modern course is both tough and long, heavily wooded and undulating.
6804 yards - 18 hole sss73 (also in Dundee play Caird Park & Camperdown). |

Edzell (33 miles)
Although a fair distance from the hotel, this course comes with a strong recommendation. Superbly situated at the foot of the Grampians, the heathland course is a true delight. Not a long course, but an interesting one offering remarkable value. Well worth the journey.

Forfar (13 miles)
A good undulating heathland course that is regularly raved about by our guests. An enjoyable course for the beginner and scratch golfer alike.
6255 yards - 18 hole sss69 (also play Kirriemuir, an ancient 9 hole with additional 9 added) |

Monifieth Medal (15 miles)
This is a municipal course, always in excellent condition, previously used in the qualifying rounds of open championships at Carnoustie and St. Andrews. Being a links course with an easterly position, means that, like Carnoustie, things can be pretty bleak. Several pine plantations, however, act as a windsbreaks as well as separating the fairways.
6650 yards - 18 hole sss70 (also nearby play Barry, Letham Grange (old & new) and Arbroath) |
